What sort of Mickey Mouse @#^! is this? Disney + Marvel – It’s not so bad.

What sort of Mickey Mouse @#^! is this? Disney + Marvel – It’s not so bad.

What can we potentially get from this new marriage?

Many have pointed out the immediate benefit: Pixar has more material! Marvel’s animation efforts have been noble, but imagine collaborations with the creative teams at Pixar and what that could mean for the genre. Some of the stranger Marvel properties can potentially have a life on the screen as a Pixar title.  Better yet, Marvel Studios could potentially develop their own television channel. Marvel TV – Imagine a non-network channel with original programming based upon new & established marvel properties, movies, documentaries, the sky is the limit and Disney has the clout to make it happen – I just hope they don’ forget to pay & credit me for the idea!

Disney gets a chance to add to their library of films as well as potentially introducing additional revenue streams by introducing comic book adaptations of some of their successful properties. They have yet another audience to deliver products to, namely teen-aged boys and young adult males that have more interests than trying to justify watching Hannah Montana beyond the age of 15 and not seem a bit creepy.

It has to be said though, that once the dust clears on the organizational front there could be more jobs on the horizon. That $4 billion has a larger impact on individual lives than it’s been let on. For Florida, my home state this is going to do some good down the line; with so many excellent art & design schools and programs with so few in-state jobs, the work is needed. The state economy needs that sort of boost, more specifically Orlando / Kissimmee can use the boost. Disney has a talent pool in their back yard in Full Sail University, which will now have even more opportunities for their students to break into the creative services industry.
